I suppose you all might appreciate an update? Well we are home now.
Our last days in Roma:
We went to the Colosseum
I got a hair cut
We ate a lot
Mom, Audrey and Sadie went to Pompeii
Poppy and I took Dad to the train station. Which would take him to the airport.
We did something else, that I can’t remember at the moment.
On October 17th, we packed up and got in the car to Civitavecchia. Where we turned in our rental car and checked in to the Celebrity Reflection. We had two sea days before docking in Madiera (Funchal), Portugal on Monday. We took a taxi tour of Madiera before getting back on the ship. That night there was a medical emergency. We had to turn around and got close enough to Madiera for a helicopter to come and take the man (who had a heart attack probably) to the hospital in Madiera. We lost fifteen hours but those were easily made up. We had six days at sea. We saw Gibraltar and Morocco. We went to St. Kitts for the day. The next day we went to St. Maartens and to the beach. We had our second to last day at sea. We went to Labadee, Haiti. Which is run by Royal Caribbean International. We spent the day at the beach. It was perfect! We had one more day at sea, till Miami. In Miami we flew to Charlotte then to Myrtle Beach. We got in about 7:30 and went out to eat before heading home.
Hopefully I’ll do another blog post this week!
Ciao for now! As Captain Peppas would say!
Hello, so Friday we woke up, loaded up and drove to Orvieto! We there for 2 hours having brunch and showing Dad around. We also ran into one of Nan’s friend from her art class. We can continued to drive to Roma. There having lunch and checking into our apartment, we rested up before heading to the Vatican Museum’s for a night tour. The night tour was fabulous and significantly less crowded than during the day. We saw bunches of lovely art, including Raphael’s rooms and the Sistine Chapel. Fun fact the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling was cleaned 1984-1994. Before that the ceiling was considerably darker than it is now. After doing that we had a late dinner before heading home.
Saturday we slept in after having such a late night. Mom, Audrey, Sadie and I went out to walk around the neighborhood and have sushi. After going home for a while we went out again bringing Dad (who had previously been enjoying a walk in the park.) We took the metro into Roma. Where we took a double decker night bus (that was completely like the one in Harry Potter shrinking and all) getting a night tour of Roma. Oh and seeing a glimpse of some big Italian classic rock concert. Before going to a fountain (that has a name and significance) and heading home.
Sunday we went to Ostia Antica. We spent all day there, unexpectedly. Before stopping and having hamburgers for dinner. I miss chick-fil-a and Wendy’s…
Let’s just say it did not saying anything about climbing ruins of an ancient city.
Today, we went to the (Roman) Forum and Palatine Hill for a four hours. Meaning I went to biology and composition 2. Multitasking at it’s best. It was very dusty my black shoes are now multiple colours of grey. Then we had sushi for dinner.
(I posted this from my phone so forgive me for any mistakes)
Hello! Happy almost end of first quarter! Sunday, Mom picked Dad up from the airport! We toured Saint Mark’s, before going on a gandala ride! We all went home and left Sadie and Dad there to go to bed, since he had just gotten off a plane. Poppy and Nan went to see the theatrical performance Mom, Audrey and I saw last night. Whilst, Audrey, Mom and I went out for dinner. Monday, we packed up. Went for a quick bite to eat, before making our way back to the car. When we were on the water taxi, the wakes got slight big and Dad got splashed! Luckily he wasn’t soaked! We made it to Florence about 4pm and had dinner at home.
Our first day in Florence, we climbed to the top of the dome on the Duomo. The entrance to it was across from the entrance to our apartment! After climbing up and back down we went home to rest some! Then after going out for lunch we saw Michaelangelo’s David at the Academia along with some other amazing artwork. Then we went home for class!
Yesterday, Mom, Audrey, Sadie and I went to the science museum. It focused on Galileo. After that we got a quick bite to eat. Then we went to the palace, which now functions as the city council building. But the second floor is still the original rooms. I think, we then returned home for class.
I am off to finish school things. *Stares evilly at the end of quarter* One day I will post pictures! Ciao!
We’ve been keeping ourselves busy! Tuesday we took the train to Milano! We walked around and went into the Duomo. Making it home in time for dinner. Wednesday, Kaye, Audrey, Poppy, Mom and I went to a market, an extremely big market! But we had to go home in time for class.
Thursday, we woke up bright in early and drove to the ferry. Then drove on the ferry, then drove for about 2 1/2 hours to the train station in Vespasia, Switzerland, where we got on the train for 30 minutes to Zermatt. In Zermatt we had lunch. Nan and Poppy went to explore old Zermatt. While the rest of us took a funicular, a small gondola, an elevator and then a large gondola until we were on top of a mountain, where the elevation was about 11,000 feet. We looked around some before doing everything in repeat, and finally getting home.
Friday, we left Laga Maggiore. We arrived at the Venezia airport a quarter to five. There we took the water boat (that’s the English translation) to the Rialto bridge. Where we met the our landlady who took us to our apartment for the extended weekend. After that we ate dinner right outside of our building. Poppy, Kaye, Mom, Audrey and I walked around Venezia visiting Piazza San Marco and various other places.
Today Poppy took Kaye to the airport. Later, Poppy, Sadie and I went to the Museum of Natural Science. Where Sadie’s screw popped out of the hinge on her glasses. One of her latest “catchphrases” is, “Accidents happen, I just happen to be really good at them.” I am all most positive that is a quote from something she watched or listened to. So, on our way to meet Mom and Audrey at Piazza San Marco we stopped at an optometrist and had them fix her glasses. We joined Mom and Audrey for lunch. They were on their second plate when we arrived due to an attack from a pigeon. We then continued to tour the Doge’s. After which, Poppy and Sadie went to join Nan. While Audrey, Mom and I went to the Theatre Venezia, which gave us a theatrical presentation of the history of Venezia.
We have a lovely house, yard and view here! I think I already mentioned that. Our first day, we spent at home. Except for a run to the grocery store by Poppy and Kaye. Yesterday, we spent the morning at home. Then we went to Switzerland for pizza. We came back to our area went to the grocery store and found how to get to the lake.

Mercoledì (Wednesday,) 24/09/2014, Day 14: Fossola and Vernazza
We walked to the train station. We got on a train to Fossola. Where we walked around then got back on the train to Vernazza. Where we ate lunch I had a delicious pesto sauce with my pasta! Mom, Audrey, Maggie and I went home. Then we went to the beach! The water was freezing! We ate dinner at the house.

Lunedi (Monday,) 22/09/2014, Day 12: Lucca and Monterosso Al Mare
We had a lovely breakfast at our B&B this morning before loading up the car. We then went into Lucca and rented bikes! Sort of, we rented two single bikes and one golf cart like bike. It can sit six, but only has four sets of peddles and we only put five at a time on it. After returning the bikes we had lunch at a fabulous restaurant on top on the wall. Then we got into the car and headed to Monterosso Al Mare which is part of the Cinque Terre and on the Mediterranean. We checked into our apartment and found out there was no internet. I spent the rest of the day resting in bed. So, I am kind of clueless as to what happened after that.
Today is our last day in Orvieto. Tomorrow we head to Lucca for a night. This morning Mom and I went out for breakfast and wandered around a bit. We headed home for a while before going out again. Poppy and I left first making a stop at the market and to get some pictures printed. We then joined everyone at the marble paper maker’s studio again for some quick info and to pick up the marble paper we had made. After that we went to lunch in plaza at the Duomo. Then everyone but Kaye went into the Duomo again, before going our slightly separate ways. Poppy and I joined Kaye and went into the archaeological museum and the Duomo museum. Then we all went home for some rest, after waiting for someone to get to the apartment with the key. Kaye and I went out and caught up with Mom and Sadie before they headed home. Kaye and I then went ClanDestine for some nourishments and people watching (quite entertaining.) We went home until dinner time. Sadie, Kaye and I went out to dinner at Febo the restaurant we ate at our first night here. Then we came home to pack!
Officially caught up! Today Kaye, Audrey, Sadie, Mom, Poppy and I walked to the Funicular and rode it to the train station. Where we took the train to Roma. In Roma we had a quick bite to eat. Then we got on the double decker hop on, hop off bus, and saw the Colosseum and various other icons of Roma. Sometime later, we got off the bus at the train station. We went into the supermarket for some lunch. Then got on the train to Civitavecchia, the port town. Where we picked up our rental car. Poppy drove us back to Orvieto. We freshened up at home before joining Nan for dinner and desert. Now I am home writing this blog post and it is time to go to bed. We are six hours a head of Eastern Standard Time.
Mercoledì (Wednesday,) 17/09/2014, Day 7:
Kaye, Audrey, Sadie, Mom, Poppy and I hiked down from the city wall of Orvieto. We had caffee and waited for the Necropolis (Etruscan tombs) to open. The tombs were built with the top being a few feet above ground level. We went into a few of them, they were rooms with enough room for the things they “brought into the afterlife” with them. After we were done there we hiked back up into Orvieto. At which point, Nan joined us for lunch. Poppy and Nan went to the Etruscan museum, Kaye and Audrey joined them later. Mom, Sadie and I went home so I could go to class. We had dinner here tonight.
Giovedi (Thursday,) 18/09/2014, Day 8: Busy day! All of us went to the Market, we had some caffee and juice. Then we left Nan at the Market and climbed the clock tower. After the clock tower we went to a lower part of Orvieto and climbed down to the bottom of another well, then we climbed up. We had lunch, then went home to rest and go to class. After mine and Audrey’s classes we went down into the Etruscan caves! It was a tight walk at some point but at others there was a lot of space. After getting out of the caves we joined Nan who was headed to a marble paper maker’s studio. We joined her and listened to the man tell us about the history of paper making. He showed us three antique books from the 1500s-1700s. After finishing there we went to dinner at a lovely restaurant and headed home.
